Transportation & Storage

1.  Packing

The graphic symbols on the package must be observed. The suction inlet, discharge outlet and auxiliary interfaces on pump shall be closed with plugs during transportation and storage. The plugs must be removed during installation of the pump units.

2.  Transportation

The pump or pump unit shall be transported to the installation position by lifting device, when necessary.

When a crane is used to handle the pump unit, the rope must be attached to the lifting hook on the pedestal for correct handling.

When the rope is fixed to the pump or pump unit, attentions shall be paid to keep balance during lifting.

3.   Protection and Sealing of Screw Pump

When the pump is stored or shut down for a long-term, it must be protected against corrosion. Under that condition, both interior and exterior shall be protected and sealed, and the anti-             corrosive effect during specified period depends on the protection position and storage conditions of the pump.

 Attention The pump does not need special protection in normal conditions. If required, the pump and its accessories can be sealed specially for delivery according to the storage period  planned by the customer.

 The external protection shall be provided by coating or painting with spray gun.

 Protection points: All exposed metals without treatments or components without coatings.

Foundation must be level; the surface must be flat and clean and can totally bear the load acting on it.

The concrete foundation must be designed in such a manner that the pump bottom board can totally be  kept flat on it and can be secured with proper bolts (refer to drawing of the unit).

4  Protection and Sealing of Interior

The pump is filled with protective agent for protection. Before filling, at first, a blind flange shall be used to cover the suction inlet of the pump. The discharge outlet of the pump must be kept higher than the flange at the suction inlet when the antiseptic agent is filled into the pump; meanwhile, the pump shall be turned slowly in the reverse direction of rotation. The filling must be ongoing continuously till the protective agent reaches the seal line of the outlet flange, and without any bubble. And then, the outlet flange of the pump shall be sealed.

Concrete foundation after hardening must be flat; the surface shall be flat and clean. Oil stains on the foundation shall be removed. Anchor bolt holes reserved for installation of foundation blots shall be cleaned and purged with air. Prior to installation of the pump unit, concrete foundation surface shall be roughened and clean to ensure well bonding of foundation body and mortar filler.

Protection key points: All exposed metals (e.g. internal surface of pump casing, screw assembly, ball bearing, pressure relief valve, etc.) inside the pump.

5.  Protection Monitor 

When the pump is kept in storage for a long-term, the users must regularly check the protection and seal of the pump.

The protective agent level in the pump shall be checked every 6 months, and be filled to the seal surface of the outlet flange if necessary. Additionally, the package shall be checked for damage. And repair shall be carried out if necessary.

6.  Removing Protection

Prior to startup of the pump, the protective agent shall be removed and handled according to environmental protection requirements.

The protective agent inside the pump can be flushed by the transmission medium, or the protective agent inside and outside the pump can be cleaned by applicable solvents, which include gasoline, benzene, diesel oil, ethyl alcohol, alkali (industrial detergent) or other wax solvent, or the steam injection equipment with suitable mixture can be applied (use of wax solvent in advance).

Attention Before startup after a long-term storage, all elastic elements (O rings and shaft seals) shall be checked for deformation. The aged elastic elements must be replaced, and the pump shall be filled with fluid for anti-seize; meanwhile, the pressure relief valve enclosed or installed on the pipeline shall be checked for connection.

Note: If the protective agent containing wax is used in the equipment/pipes/(oil) tank or other parts in the equipment, the whole equipment system shall be flushed to remove the protective agent, because wax is harmful to the gas separation with the oil, which will result into unstable operation or noise increase of the pump..


7.  Storage

  During storage, all inlet and outlet pipes and all branches of the pump must be closed with blind flanges or screw plugs.

  The pump shall be stored in a dry and dust-free place, and turned at least once every month during storage.
